Liliana Ahmadova
Hi! My name is Lulu. I graduated a year early and wasn’t ready to commit to a single path, I wanted to explore everything. Taking a gap year let me work, funding my travels (the whole point of the gap year hehe). Through those experiences alongside many educational courses, I found clarity in what I truly want to study. I’m now heading into a PPE (Politics, Philosophy, Economics) degree next year, something I might never have discovered otherwise. I couldn’t recommend a gap year more.
I feel it is very common for society to understand a gap year as a way to get out of education and “slack”. Although that can be the case for some, personally, this time gave me a chance to figure out how I want to lead the next portion of my life. I always knew I would return to an academically rigorous environment, being a student is something I do not take for granted and enjoy, it was only a matter of where I should take my studies. Additionally, I gained immense real world experience and unforgettable memories that I will cherish forever.
I wish everyone in the university/gap year decisions trenches the best of luck!
Liliana
